"This is it. The moment Heaven and Hell clash. But which unearthly being will win, the fallen angel or Hell's hounds?

Overtaken by fear, I close my eyes."

Kayson is a Fallen Angel who has spent decades running from the Hell Hounds while searching for something that no one else believes can be so, not even God. Kayson is determined to find a Blood Child. But when a hound finds Kayson first, he is sure his end has come.
Falon, Alpha of the Hell Hounds, destroyer of the blood children, and devoted believer in his master’s plan, is bound and determined to drag Kayson back to Hell with him.
Sabrina is a Vampire, a half-breed created from one of Lucifer’s original blood children. After years of hiding, Sabrina’s fate changes when she finds Kayson barely alive. Against her instincts, Sabrina saves him. Now she and Kayson are both marked by the Hell Hounds.
Emma is an ordinary human, whose only problem is making ends meet, and getting over the hurt caused by her untrustworthy brother. Her everyday problems become supernatural ones when she finds Kayson and Sabrina hiding in her parent’s backyard shed.

Kayson, Sabrina and Emma are unlikely allies, thrown together by chance to fight against the most powerful creatures of the underworld in order to follow their world-changing quest. But will the broken faith of one break the faith of all?

GUEST POST!
I have the honor of hosting Brandy Nacole as she discusses
how she creates Evil Characters...

Creating Evil Characters

Not all, but most fiction books have an evil villain.  But what makes a good villain?  Well, besides the reason they are fighting against the good guys, which is usually about power and taking over the world, I think they also need a good backstory.  A villain’s backstory explains so much about why they are doing the things they are doing and what led them there.

In my novel, Broken Faith, the hell hound Falon is the villain.  Although he is not the main boss, that would be Lucifer, he’s the one doing the dirty work.  But Falon isn’t just following the command of his boss, he’s out for revenge.  In the story, bits of Falon’s backstory is told through Kayson and even a little by himself as he searches for Kayson and Sabrina.  His backstory allows readers to see who he was, who is now, and gives them ideas about his possible future.

Backstory’s help improve the story, add a twist, as well as add to the complexity of the character’s relationships.  Creating evil villains who have no backstory, they just do what they do just because, gives them no meaning.  Sometimes it makes you feel for them, hate them more, or make you look around at your own life.  It is what gives a villain his depth.

Book Description:
Trapped with a billionaire in his mysterious mansion... Can she beat him at his own game?

Lily would do anything to save the Frazer Center for the Arts—even take on the infamous billionaire Calder Cunningham.
The Cunninghams have long held a reputation for being eccentric—and secretive. When Lily breaks onto their estate, she only wants to find and reason with Calder. (All right, all right, she wants to punch him in the face, too, but that's Plan B.) The Cunningham family was the Frazer Center's largest benefactor for years—until Calder took over the family funds and broke the pledge contract without warning. Now the Center is on the brink of closing, and she's desperate to save the institution her father founded.
Calder is willing to consider her pleas—but for a price. Lily must indulge his whims, play along with his sexual games—all while confined to his mysterious mansion—or she'll never get the funds to save the Center. But there's more to the arrogant billionaire than meets the eye, and the longer they play cat and mouse, the more Lily begins to question her own feelings of hatred for the man.

My Review:

I have to admit that I've been very blessed lately by the quality of books that have been coming my way. And this book has been no exception. This story is about a woman named Lily who is desperate to save her family's art center when they start experiencing difficult times. Their center has lost its biggest patron and Lily is determined to find a way to make him reconsider.

After several letters, e-mails and phone calls don't seem to do the trick, and employees start quitting at the center since their paychecks start bouncing, Lily decides it's time to take drastic measures and try to get a one-on-one meeting with their patron to make him seem reason. So she gets in her car and drives over to the Cunningham Estate.

The patron in question is Calder Cunningham, a known billionaire play boy that had inherited his family's fortune when his father passes away. Lily is convinced that he is cold and heartless and instead of sponsoring worthy causes, wants to use his money to travel around the world wooing one bimbo after another.

Lily's hopes of making him see reason fails. He has no interest in supporting the center and will not change his mind. Heart-broken and angry Lily wants to get as far away as Calder as she can, but unfortunately all the roads out are blocked to a thunder storm and she has no alternatives, but to stay at the house of the man who is single-handedly bringing her family's center to ruins.

Shortly after her stay there she notices Calder watching her every move and she can tell that he is attracted to her. And desperate times calls for desperate measures. She decided to use her knew found knowledge to her benefit and seduce Calder into falling for her. Being able to tell what Lily is up to Calder comes up with a game. A game of seduction. If Lily is able to seduce Calder until he can't take it anymore, he will renew his donation to her center. She accepts and is about to play in the most "Wicked Game" of her life.

If you cannot tell from above this book is extremely fun an flirty! Lily is a woman who will stop for nothing, when she has a goal in mind. She is desperate to save her family's business. Her father has invested so much into this Art Center and she can't stand to see him lose it. Calder on the other hand is more than the eye can see. Shortly after meeting him, you can tell that there is something troubling him and there is more to his story than just some cold-hearted billionaire play boy. I really enjoyed reading about the Lily and Calder's journey of seduction. The author will change the way you look at children's games like Hide and Seek and Tag for ever. This was a fun read and I am looking forward to reading Book 2: TRUTH OR DARE!

Book Description:

Maura is a twenty three year old who is still coping with her parents' sudden death two years ago. She recently graduated from college and now has her own catering business. A best friend-roommate who has been there through it all and helps make life manageable.

Until first love Pierson Hammer comes walking back into her life.
Pierson has demons of his own, after serving in the military for five years. Tormented from his past and present. He comes home hoping to make amends with Maura.
Can Maura forgive Pierson for leaving her all those years ago? Can she trust him with her future? Will she open herself up completely?

My Review:

As an avid reader there are many reactions you get after reading a book. There are books that make you laugh. Books that make you cry. Books that make you turn the page with anticipation. Books that make you want to throw it against the wall. Then there are books that completely touch your soul as you read them, and I will have to honestly say, that Coming Back to You by Devon Youngblood is one of them.

Maura and her best friend Ruby are out dancing, when Maura realizes that her ex-love is back into town. Maura and Pierson were high school sweethearts who were separated when Pierson joined the military. When he left, Maura never heard from him again. She did not receive one letter, e-mail or telephone call. Even when Maura lost both of her parents in a tragic accident. He was the love of her life and when she needed him most he was absent.

It took Maura many years to get her life back on track, and when she finally finds a happy place, Pierson is back into town and conjurers up all the old feelings Maura has worked hard to push away. But being back in the same place at the same time and it is hard for them to resist one another. But they are not the same two people who fell in love years ago. They are both worse for wear with problems to over come. As Maura struggles with the loss of her parents, Pierson has his own demons to face. The very sad reality of many ex-veterans: PTSD. Pierson is haunted by bad memories that makes it impossible for him to move on from the horrors he encounterd overseas.

This book is about two haunted people helping each-other overcome the obstacles in their way to happiness. When I was reading this story, I was so happy to see the author take on such a heavy subject as PTSD. It is something that I have yet to read about in any books and it made me enjoy the story even more. I loved reading about how Maura and Pierson find a way to be each other's rocks and find a way to love one another again. Yes, it is not easy and they hit countless bumps along the path, but in the end they are able to do so.

I really enjoyed the book and was excited to be able to ask the author a few questions! Read below to find out more about the authors inspiration behind the book and following Prequel and Sequel that will be out soon!

Interview Questions

First off thank you for such a beautiful and heartfelt story. I devoured it in one evening.
In this story you touch upon 2 very difficult topics to write about. A girl losing both of her parents at a young age, and an ex-soldier facing the very sad reality of PTSD. What made you decide to write about such tough subjects? Did you ever find yourself regretting this decision?

I wrote about it because I don’t think there are many books on the subject. And it’s something that I believe needs attention. Most soldiers don’t realize they have PTSD or they don’t want to admit it because they think they are perceived as being weak. And that’s not the case. I don’t regret writing about it at all. I toyed with the idea and I was afraid some readers would be offended by the subject. But in the end I just went for it. I made sure to do plenty of research just so I could subject right.

Many authors choose to write their stories in two different POVs. However, I have never seen it done in the way you laid out the story. What motivated you to do so?

At first I just wrote from Maura’s POV. Then just about half way through Pierson got in my head and wanted to speak for himself. Figured it was only fair to let him have his say J

I was excited to see that there will be a prequel coming out early 2014. What can we except? Can you tell us more about it?

I am VERY excited about this as well. It is more of their story. Maura moves to the town her freshman year of high school. And she meets Ruby who is also new to the school. Naturally they became fast friends. It’s just a story of their high school days. How Maura and Pierson meet, their first kiss, her family not approving of the relationship and many other things that teenagers go through.

Book 2 will introduce two new characters and a new story that I am looking forward to reading about. Since they are tied with Maura and Pierson, can we expect any appearances from them?

As of right now, they will not be in book two. Maura is mentioned, but she has not made an appearance. I’d love to work them into the story, but I’m just sure if it is feasible for the story as a whole. It’s still a work in progress so you never know.

Lastly, because I loved reading about them and would love to find you more,
can we expect a Ruby and Trevor story anytime soon?

It’s certainly not out of the question. I’d love to write about them. Just depends on what the readers want. If they want more, I may write it.
